The making of Bali Rain Mist directly benefits local communities - especially women in rural households and the families they support. Through this initiative, women living on Bali’s volcanic slopes are trained to collect pure mountain rainwater using exacting methods. The rainwater is collected in open areas, free of pollutants, without ever touching the earth, plants or people, to maintain its physical and energetic purity. At our Botanical Studio in Ubud, Bali, the water is further purified by ceramic and carbon filters, then infused with signature blends of pure and natural essential oils.

Bali Rain Mist is not only good for the people who use it, but also for the people and the earth that produce the ingredients. This rural rainwater collection initiative is designed to promote sustainable rural income generation by tapping an un-utilized resource available to rural households on the island. It is safe for the women to harvest, does not take substantial time away from their commitments to children, the household and community, and harvesting creates no ecological disturbances.
In addition, we work with expert essential oil distillers, most of whom are located right in the rural communities where the plants are grown and harvested on the islands of the Indonesian archipelago. Many of the plant parts used for essential oils, such as leaves and twigs, are not usually harvested for the food or spice trade, so local farmers are provided with an extra source of income.
These relationships support the sustainable use of natural resources and the families that depend on them. While the production and sale of other air fresheners support large, toxic chemical manufacturers, Bali Rain Mist supports sustainable rural livelihoods for families on the islands.
